Variables
White-headed Woodpecker
Occurred the most disproportionately in hexagons with more than 23%
ponderosa pine forest and a July maximum temperature of 24-28 C
(hex. avg.). Somewhat less likely where no ponderosa pine forest or
Northeast Oregon canyon grassland, and July minimum temperature is
more than 8 C (hexagon maximum). The logistic regression analysis
showed positive or negative association with ponderosa pine forest, the
extent of public land, elevation (hex. avg.), April precipitation (hex.
med.), June minimum temperature (hex. avg.), topographic variation,
and-to a lesser degree-canyon grassland and shrubland and road
density.
